How to Make Authentic Homemade Pita Bread – Easy and Fluffy Recipe

- 1 standing mixer
Ingredients
Starter
- 2 1/4 tbsp instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 cup flour
Dough
- 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 3/4 cup flour
Instructions
Preparing the Starter
- Combine flour, warm water and yeast.
- Mix well and set aside for 15-20 minutes
Dough
- Add the remaining ingredients to your starter and mix for about 6 minutes.
- Shape into a ball and grease with some olive oil.
- Cover and let it rise for 2 hours.
Shaping
- Transfer the risen dough to a floured bench.
- Divide into 8 parts and roll each part into a ball.
- Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- After resting roll each ball into a disc of about 15cm.
Cooking
- Grease a pan with some olive oil and heat it up to medium-high.
- Cook until golden on both sides.
