How to Make Esfirra: Easy Homemade Middle Eastern Flatbread Recipe
This easy Esfirra recipe yields 8 delicious flatbreads with a soft, fluffy dough. It takes about an hour to prepare, including dough rising time. A perfect beginner-friendly recipe!
Equipment
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Rolling Pin
Ingredients
- 4 cup flour
- 250 ml warm water + 4 tbsp
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 egg yolk
Instructions
Dough
- In a bowl add all the ingredients and mix to combine.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
- Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Once dough has risen transfer to a floured bench.
- Divide in 8 parts.
- With a rolling pin roll out each part into a long shape about 26cm long x 12cm wide.
- Fold in the edges forming a boat shape.
- Pinch the ends to hold its shape.
- Add your favourite filling.
- Brush the edges with an egg yolk.
- Bake in hot oven 220C | 428F for about 15-20 minutes
