Easy Banana Meringue Pie Recipe – Traditional Homemade Dessert

Equipment

  • 1 mixer
  • 1 pipping bag
  • 5 ramekins

Ingredients
  

Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • cinnamon powder to taste

Meringue

  • 5 egg whites
  • 150 sugar

Cream ( Check Recipe for Pastry Cream )

Instructions
 

Banana Caramel Filling

  • Peel and chop bananas in circles.
  • In a pan add sugar and water mix and bring to a boil.
  • Turn off the heat and add the butter, mix until completely melted.
  • Add the bananas and coat with the caramel. Set aside

Meringue

  • In a large bowl beat egg white to peaks.
  • Add sugar little at time and mixing it with each addition.
  • Once all the sugar has been added and the meringue is nice and glossy its done. Set aside.

Putting all together

  • Spread the prepared caramel banana between 5 ramekins.
  • Top with cinnamon to taste.
  • Add a layer of cream.
  • Top all up with the meringue.

Bake

  • Bake in oven at 150C / 302F for about 10-15 minutes or until the meringue stars to brown.
