Easy Banana Meringue Pie Recipe – Traditional Homemade Dessert
This Banana Meringue Pie combines sweet caramelized bananas with a light and airy meringue, creating a comforting dessert that’s both simple and nostalgic. Perfect for any occasion!
Equipment
- 1 mixer
- 1 pipping bag
- 5 ramekins
Ingredients
Caramel Sauce
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 tbsp butter
- cinnamon powder to taste
Meringue
- 5 egg whites
- 150 sugar
Cream ( Check Recipe for Pastry Cream )
Instructions
Banana Caramel Filling
- Peel and chop bananas in circles.
- In a pan add sugar and water mix and bring to a boil.
- Turn off the heat and add the butter, mix until completely melted.
- Add the bananas and coat with the caramel. Set aside
Meringue
- In a large bowl beat egg white to peaks.
- Add sugar little at time and mixing it with each addition.
- Once all the sugar has been added and the meringue is nice and glossy its done. Set aside.
Putting all together
- Spread the prepared caramel banana between 5 ramekins.
- Top with cinnamon to taste.
- Add a layer of cream.
- Top all up with the meringue.
Bake
- Bake in oven at 150C / 302F for about 10-15 minutes or until the meringue stars to brown.
